Many of Syria's attractions include the Church of St Simon and ruins at Qala’at Samaan.

In Damascus you can visit:

* Umayyad Mosque which is the resting place of the most famous Arab leader Saladin.

* The National Museum of Damascus, which displays a wonderful archaeological and historical collection.

* The Azem Palace museum which features arts & popular traditions of Syria.

* The Takiyya as-Süleimaniyya which is Syria's prettiest mosques designed in the Ottoman style.

You should also visit Syria's second largest city Aleppo which is also packed with museums, tombs, mosques, etc.


Some of the major attractions in Aleppo include:

* The Citadel which is an old fortress

* The San Sebastian which is an old cathedral with a collection of antiquities and relics which range from the Stone Age.

* The Archaeological Museum of Aleppo which hosts artifacts from the Greek, Roman and Islamic periods.

* The Great Mosque which is a beautiful structure that includes carved marbles, stunning minarets and pavilions.

If you are traveling to Syria or any other part of the Middle East be aware that the holy festival of Ramadan takes place during September and October.
