Lopar is located on one of the most beautiful Croatian islands and it’s by far one of the best vacation spots in Croatia for a beach vacation. Beaches in Croatia are known to be mostly pebble beaches, but you’ll find in Rab Island nothing but beautiful and stunning sandy beaches such as Paradise Beach in Lopar, which is one of the best beaches in the Mediterranean.
Cheap Summer Destinations in Europe
Paradise Beach is very popular with families as it boasts shallow waters and many amenities like restaurants and water rentals. If you prefer a quite beach spot in Lopar, (perhaps for a bit of naturism) you can head to either Sahara beach or Ciganka beach, which are popular amongst nudists.

Pula

The town of Pula is another popular spot in Croatia that boasts roman ruins, though the main reason Pula has to be one of the best vacation spots in Croatia is its ferry link to Venice (see. places to visit in Venice), which is about 2 hours from Pula on the high-speed catamaran.
Things to do in Pula Croatia
Besides offering a great day trip opportunity to Venice, there is lots of sightseeing you can do in Pula such as visiting the Arch of the Sergii, the Gate of Hercules and “The Arena”, which is the best preserved Roman amphitheater in the world (in better condition than Rome’s Coliseum).

Zadar

Zadar is perhaps one of the most underrated destinations Croatia but if you’re looking for a fun and exciting vacation you won't find a better place than Zadar. You can enjoy the beaches, do plenty of sightseeing in Zadar and visit roman ruins and cathedrals such as St Anastasia’s (built in the 1300’s).

A few other reasons why Zadar is one of the best vacation spots in Croatia include the day trips to Pag Island and Dugi Otok where you can sunbathe in the stunning beaches and enjoy diving and snorkeling tours. Zadar is also located within driving distance of Plitvice Lakes and Krka national parks, which is a plus if want to enjoy the outdoors during your vacation.

Ljubljana

Ljubljana is the cultural heart of Slovenia and one of the top eastern European cities to visit without a doubt. Ljubljana is also located in the heart of Slovenia, which makes Ljubljana a good base for a first time ski vacation in Slovenia.

Many of the interesting places to visit in Slovenia are located in Ljubljana, and one of the top things to do in the capital is explore the city’s historic center, which is characterized for its Baroque style architecture similar to that of cities in Austria such as Vienna and Graz.
A few interesting places worth checking out in Ljubljana’s historic center are:

- St. Peter’s Church, the oldest church in the city
- Dragon Bridge to check out the four dragon statues located at the bridge’s four corners.

There is a medieval castle worth checking out - Ljubljana Castle – which is perched atop a hill and serves as a vantage point for enjoying memorable views of the city.

As I mentioned earlier, Ljubljana is a cultural city so if you’re into museums and art galleries there are plenty to visit.

Lake Bled and Bled Castle (pictured) are the major attractions in Bled and two of the interesting places to visit in Slovenia, hands down. Lake Bled is a great attraction for enjoying boat tours along the lake and trips to the lovely island in the middle of the lake.

The interior of Bled Castle has many interesting medieval artefacts and from the terrace of the castle, you can get stunning views of the lake

Maribor

Maribor is located on the northwest corner of the country, just miles from the border with Austria, and it is one the biggest cities in Slovenia.

If you’re looking to do day trips to nearby Austria, Maribor is just 50 minutes drive south of Graz Austria.

Maribor isn’t far from the capital either, which makes the city a popular day trip opportunity from Ljubljana.

Maribor boasts many churches and many squares, as well as many interesting buildings and monuments that you can explore on foot.

One of the famous landmarks in the city is Maribor Castle, not only a great place to look at, but also interesting to visit.

Maribor Castle is definitely on my list of interesting places to visit in Slovenia, and you'll love marvelling at the hundreds of aristocrat costumes, war uniforms and working class attire on display.

The Old Vine (Stara trta) House Museum in Maribor is another attraction you don’t want to miss, as it is on the Guinness Book of Records for being home to the oldest vine in the world.

At the Old Vine Museum, you can check out interesting exhibits like wooden wine flanks and enjoy different sorts of wine tasting.

The city of Piran is a lovely coastal town overlooking the beautiful Adriatic Sea, and one place worth adding to the list of interesting places to visit in Slovenia.

Piran is a popular place to visit for a beach vacation, though the town offers plenty of things to do also such as visiting the many museums and enjoying a walking tour through the cobblestone and narrow streets of Piran’s Old Town.

Two museums worth checking out in Piran are Piran Town Museum and the Sergej Masera Maritime Museum. These two have interesting exhibits on Slovenia naval history and cool archeological artifacts on display.

If you’re looking for more day trip opportunities from Ljubljana, Skofja Loka is just half hour drive northwest of the capital, and also one of the gem destinations in the country.

Interesting places to visit in New Brunswick

Looking for interesting places to visit in New Brunswick this year?

Bordered by Quebec Province, the Province of New Brunswick Canada is perhaps most famously known for one of the most amazing natural phenomena - the Old Sow Whirlpool – one of the largest tidal whirlpools in the world.
Interesting places to visit in New Brunswick

New Brunswick is certainly an outdoors enthusiast paradise boating pristine forests and peaks such as Mt Carleton, the highest peak in the Maritime provinces.

Apart from outdoor pursuits, New Brunswick boasts a cultural heart – Fredericton – where you’ll find many cultural attractions such as museums, historic buildings such as the Old Government House, and festivals such as the annual Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival.

Saint John

First on my list of interesting places to visit New Brunswick it's the city of Saint John, located on the southern coast.

Here, you'll find the - Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site -a great tourist attraction to visit because of the magnificent views you can get of the bay and Nova Scotia in the distance.

At the tower, you can arrange an interesting tour and learn more about the history of the tower during World War II.

If you’re traveling with kids and are looking for family-friendly attractions in St John, you can visit the Cherry Brook Zoo and the Canada Games Aquatic Centre which has fun water slides.

If you are also planning side trips during your vacation in New Brunswick, one popular Saint John day tip is visiting the beautiful Cape Chignecto Provincial Park in Nova Scotia.

You can hop on a ferry from Saint John’s harbor for the channel crossing to Digby Nova Scotia and visit Provincial Park, which also boast an interpretive visitor’s center.

Grand Manan Island

Grand Manan Island is a great spot for enjoying wild life spotting and it’s on my list of interesting places to visit in New Brunswick because of the whale-watching opportunities.

Grand Manan Island is one of the best spots for experiencing amazing whale sights such as Humpback whales and Finback whales, and you can either hire a fishing boat to get up close and personal, or enjoy whale watching spotting from the soaring cliffs.

By the way, you can reach Grand Manan Island by ferry ride from Blacks Harbor, taking around 80 minutes sailing time.

Hopewell Rocks

The Bay of Fundy spans the southern coast of the country, and one of the most popular natural attractions along the bay it's the Hopewell Rocks (pictured).

Hopewell Rocks is one of the most interesting places to visit in New Brunswick because of the interesting tidal range phenomena that occurs at low and high tide.

Hopewell Rocks also boasts pristine scenery and stunning rock formations such as the famed Hopewell Rock formations, which are rocks shaped by the tides in the form of “flower pots”.

Not far from the Hopewell Rocks, you’ll also find the beautiful Fundy National Park where you can do hiking while enjoying nature sightseeing such as waterfalls scattered throughout the park.

Fredericton

The capital of Fredericton is also a great place to visit on a day trip, or base your vacation in New Brunswick, especially if you’re looking to enjoy city activities like visiting museums and art galleries such as the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and the York Sunbury Museum.

Fredericton is also on my list of interesting places to visit in New Brunswick because of the changing of the guard ceremony at Officer’s Square.

If you’ve seen the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace in London in England, or the changing of the guards at the Stockholm Royal Palace in Sweden, you’ll enjoy seeing the beautiful display of the Canadian Armed Forces re-enacting a drill ceremony.

The Old Sow Whirlpool

The Old Sow Whirlpool is located near the Maine-New Brunswick border and it is one of the most interesting places to visit in New Brunswick for sure.

If you’ve never seen a whirlpool before, you’ll be blown away by the Old Sow, as you watch the vortex swirling and bubbling water.

The Old Sow Whirlpool is located off the coast of Deer Island NB, and you can also be reached by ferry from Eastport in Maine.

Mount Carleton Provincial Park

If you’re a hiking enthusiast looking to do many outdoor pursuits, be sure to add Mount Carleton Provincial Park to the list of interesting places to visit in New Brunswick.

The park is great for backpacking and hiking as it boasts many different trails to suit all levels and plenty of wilderness.

You can also do fauna and flora spotting as well as enjoying wilderness camping, though the camping sites here are primitive camping so no hook ups.
