Should you be considering a vacation in Europe you will probably have considered the usual destinations; Rome, Paris, London and even Amsterdam! However, there are many other destinations which offer a vacation of a lifetime, although they may not be the ones that first spring to mind:

1. Budapest, Hungry 

Budapest is a massive city that you are able to explore on foot; this will ensure you hardly notice the number of tourists which are actually visiting the city. This will allow you to experience the city like a local and enjoy the vibrant, bustling culture, varied nightlife and some excellent traditional and international food; all at extremely good prices.

This Scottish City has a long and rich history! Edinburgh is full of architectural gems and is full of cultural. There is a laid back buzz to the city which creates a welcoming, friendly atmosphere, no matter where you come from. 3. Ljubljana, Slovenia

This is potentially one of the prettiest cities on earth, although unheard of by so many! People who have visited compare its beauty, cultural and architecture to Paris. There is a huge range of architecturally significant buildings set around the river which flows through the city.

4. Mosta, Bosnia and Herzegovina

If you close your eyes and picture a perfect ancient village, sat on the banks of a river surrounded by rolling green countryside; you will be picturing something very similar to Mosta Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is literally a picture postcard city, spread across both sides of the river with a traditional stone built bridge joining the two parts of the city.

5. Belgrade, Serbia

This is unlikely to have been your first thought, eve, when considering alternate destinations! The city has suffered and struggle din the recent past with well documented civil unrest. However, this is in the past and it is now becoming a must visit destination. On arrival, Belgrade Serbia will feel like you have stepped back into the 1920’s, the city appears to be adapting and starting to embrace modern technology but at an incredibly slow pace! It is a vibrant, welcoming city and a must see destination!

6. Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic

Technically, Cesky Krumlov Czech Republic is a large town and not a city but this does not detract from the beauty of this town. It is situated just two hours from Prague and can be visited for a day or you can choose to stay there for your city break. It has plenty of character and friendly locals to ensure you enjoy the experience.

7. Brasov, Romania

Brasov Romania provides you with the opportunity to really appreciate the difference in culture between East Europe and the Western side of the continent. The city is an incredibly friendly place to visit and is also the gateway to Dracula’s castle, as well as the beautiful Peles Castle. There are so many things you can do here, including hiking, trekking, partying, and so much more.

8. Ghent, Belgium

Ghent is a city of opposites. Visit it on a weekday and you will find a city full of students, bustling with life and a vibrant atmosphere. Most students return home at the weekends and the city transforms into a relaxed, laid back life style. Ghent Belgium is a city full of culture and history, with a wide variety of shops and museums to retain anyone’s interest.

9. Bled, Slovenia

You may have heard of either Castle Bled or the lake in Bled Slovenia. It is one of the most breathtaking spots in the world and there is not an abundance of tourists. It must be experienced to be believed, words alone cannot do it justice.
