If you are traveling with your RV or would like to camp out, for around $20 you can do so at the Washington County Fairgrounds which hook-ups for tents and RV’s.

Washington County Fairgrounds is located 2 miles east of Hillsboro’s city center (around 6 minutes car ride).

For angling opportunities, you can head out to Ornoname 24 Reservoir, which is located 4 miles north of Hillsboro's city center (around 8 minutes car ride).

Wildlife Spotting

If you love wildlife and enjoy bird watching, Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve is located 1 mile south of Hillsboro’s city center and offers a great opportunity to explore Oregon’s wildlife in their natural habitat.

The preserve also features educational exhibits and displays for those of you wanting to learn more about Oregon’s wildlife.

Kids Playgrounds

Dairy Creek Park, Glencoe Creek Park and Rood Bridge Park all feature playgrounds for the little ones, as well as walking trails and picnic shelters. However, Rood Bridge Park does charge a rental fee for using the their picnic shelters.

For boating opportunities, Rood Bridge Park features a boat ramp to the Tualatin River for launching canoes and kayaks.

Rood Bridge Park is adjacent Meriwether Golf Club (around 8 minutes drive from Hillsboro’s city center).

Walking & Cycling

Apart from featuring soccer, baseball and Lacrosse fields, the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex also features trails ideal for walking and cycling.

The Gordon Faber Recreation Complex is 8 miles northeast of Hillsboro Oregon, near the Rock Creek Golf Course.

Swimming

If you fancy a bit of swimming, Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center is home to a couple of indoor and outdoor pools where you can enjoy recreational swimming.

Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center is located adjacent Shute Park, along SE Maple Street.

Winery Tour

If you are wine enthusiast and would like to sample some wines, the Oak Knoll Winery is just 4 miles south of the city center (8 minutes drive), and offers many wine tastings where you can taste wines such as the popular Pinot Gris.

The museum is actually adjacent Portland Community College and some of the popular exhibits you can expect to see there include the Old Washington County Jail, Native American artifacts and 1800’s artifacts from the early settlers.
