Best European Theme Parks

Disneyland Paris is no doubt one of the top 10 places to visit in France and one of the most popular theme parks in Europe, but what else is out there besides Disneyland Paris?
Best European Theme Parks
Top 10 Theme Parks in the USA
To give you an idea, we have compiled a list of some of Europe’s top theme parks:

Europa-Park, Germany

Europa-Park is easily one of the best theme parks in Europe, if not the best theme parks you can go to in the continent. Europa-Park is located in the German city of Rust and it’s an amazing place to be for a vacation.
Top tourist attractions in Germany
Just like Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida, Europa-Park is a huge place with top rated hotels, hundreds of rides and fun themed areas to explore. The best bit about Europa-Park though it’s modeled after each of the main regions in Europe so, you get a nice taste of Europe.

Alton Towers, England

Alton Towers is based in Staffordshire and it's not only one of the best theme parks parks in the United Kingdom but one of the best European theme parks you can go with the family for an amazing day out.
Alton Towers is a huge place with beautiful grounds and fantastic rides such as the exhilarating Nemesis Roller coaster, which is one of Alton Towers’ most epic rides. Alton Towers is located about 2 hours drive from London and it’s definitely one of the must visit places in England.

Tivoli Gardens, Denmark

Tivoli Gardens is located in the city of Copenhagen and though technically an amusement park we simply couldn't leave Tivoli out of our list of European theme parks!

Top 10 Tourist Attractions in Europe
The main reason for including Tivoli is because without Tivoli Gardens there wouldn’t be theme parks today as we know them. Tivoli Gardens is the oldest amusement park in the world and great theme parks such as Disneyland were modeled after it.
Tivoli boasts great themed rides such as the wooden roller coaster called "Rutsjebanen", which is the most popular ride in the park. Tivoli also boasts some of the most beautiful grounds you’ll ever see in a fun park.

Efteling Park, The Netherlands

Efteling Park is probably one of the best European theme parks with the nicest themed areas a theme park could boast.

Efteling Park has gone to great lengths to give visitors a fairy-tale experience and you’ll appreciate this the minute you step inside the park.
As far as rides is concerned, Efteling Park is home to plenty of kid-friendly rides such as carousels, as well as a cool wooden rollercoaster called "Joris en de Draak", and the ever so popular “The Flying Dutchman” (De Vliegende Hollander), which is a combination of dark ride and water rides.

Vidam Park, Hungary

A list of best European theme parks wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Eastern Europe’s theme parks, especially since great theme parks don’t necessarily have to boast huge acres of land as long as they provide fun for the day.
This leads me to Budapest’s Vidam Park, which is probably the most popular theme park in Eastern Europe boasting top rides such as "Looping Star" and "T-Rex". Even though Vidampark is a an amusement park it deserves to be mentioned on our list since it boasts one of the oldest wooden coasters in Europe (built in the 1920’s)

PortAventura Park, Spain

PortAventura Park is without a doubt, one of the most popular summer destinations in Spain and one of Europe's top theme parks. PortAventura Park is located in the beautiful coastal town of Salou, which is just a few miles south of Tarragona.
Spain’s Top Tourist Sites
PortAventura Park is probably one of the most complete theme parks you can go to anywhere in the world because of its amazing themed areas and spectacular musical shows such as “Aloha Tahiti”.
PortAventura trill rides are also fantastic boasting rides such as Dragon Khan, which is similar to the Diamondback ride at Kings Island Ohio.

Top Amusement Parks on the East Coast

If you’re planning on visiting a fun park and are wondering about parks on the east coast, we have rounded up for you a list of the east coast's top amusement parks to visit this summer. They are as follows:

1. Busch Gardens

Bush Gardens is without a doubt, one of the top amusement parks on the east coast, and one of the most popular places to visit in Williamsburg VA during the summer months.
Top 10 Theme Parks in the USA
Busch Gardens Europe is a beautiful amusement park which boasts a cool European theme which will remind you quite a lot of Europe. One of the most popular areas in Bush Gardens is the "Germany area" which is modeled after a real German village. During Oktoberfest the area really comes alive with German dancers and singers dressed in traditional Lederhosen and dirndls.

2. Kings Dominion Amusement Park

Kings Dominion Amusement Park is located in Virginia (Doswell) and it’s another of the top amusement parks on the east coast. It may not be as beautiful as Busch Gardens Europe but Kings Dominion boasts more variety of rides and some of the best roller coasters in the US such as Grizzly, which is a wooden coaster with an amazing 90ft drop.

Another great thing about Kings Dominion Amusement Park is that it’s just 20 minutes away from Richmond which is a great city to base for enjoying day trips to nearby Virginia Beach (see. top beaches in Virginia) and Bush Gardens Europe.

3. Six Flags Great Adventure

Six Flags Great Adventure is “rollercoaster paradise” and not surprisingly one of the top amusement parks on the east coast.
Vacation Spots in New Jersey Shore
If you’re a thrill seeker or an adrenaline junkie, you’ll love Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson, NJ) without question as many of the coasters in the park are some of the fastest and tallest in the country such as “Batman the Ride” and “Nitro” where you get to travel at speeds of 90mph!

4. Kennywood Amusement Park

Kennywood Park is one of the oldest fun parks in the United States and an old time favorite of mine as there is nostalgia feeling about the park.
Popular Vacation Spots in Pennsylvania
Kennywood Park is located in West Mifflin Pennsylvania, and it’s on the list of top amusement parks on the east coast as it boasts vintage 1930’s rides, as well as modern rides such as the amazing “Pitfall” which is a free-fall ride that drops from over 250 feet height!

5. Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom

Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom has to be one of the top amusement parks on the east coast to visit with the family.
Interesting Places to Visit in Pennsylvania
Dorney Park is located in Allentown PA, and the beauty about this fun park is that it’s amusement/ waterpark, so if you’re not a big fan of thrill roller coasters you can still enjoy the fun water rides. There are also plenty of shows and cool areas such as Planet Snoopy so there isn’t a chance of kiddies getting bored!

6. Hershey Park

Hershey Park is no doubt one of the top family destinations in the US, and it’s one of the top amusement parks on the east coast as it boasts a bit of everything.

Hershey Park may not be the biggest park in the country but there are lots to do in this charming little park such as riding the coasters, attending a music show or taking a tour of Hershey’s Chocolate World.

7. Carowinds Amusement Park

Carowinds is located in Charlotte and it’s one of the top places to visit in North Carolina during the summer. Carowinds Amusement Park is one of the top amusement parks on the east coast as it home to the “Intimidator”, which is one of the tallest and fastest coasters in the southeast region.

Another reason why Carowinds is such a hit with families is because it also boasts a great kiddies’ playground haven with cool areas such as Hanna Barbera Land and Boomerang Bay's water park.

8. Salem Willows Amusement Park

Salem Willows is located in Salem Massachusetts and it’s another of the top amusement parks on the east coast. Salem Willows may not boast the heart-throbbing roller coasters other east coast amusement parks do, but it boasts all-time favorites like the carousel ride.
Places to Visit in Massachusetts
Overall, Salem Willows is the quintessential of the traditional American park which reminds you of days gone by. Another great thing about Salem Willows is that it overlooks Beverly Harbor so you can enjoy fun walks by the beach and enjoy great views of the waterfront.
