Interesting places to visit in Tennessee
things to do in Northeast Tennessee
Another thing I love about the state it’s Tennessee's southern friendliness and welcoming attitude!
Without further ado, here the list of interesting places to visit in Tennessee, that are sure to make the highlight of your vacation in the state:
Memphis
Memphis Tennessee is at the top of my list of interesting places to visit in Tennessee because of the amount of interesting attractions the city boasts, and its close proximity to Mississippi and Arkansas. Two of the biggest attractions in Memphis are Elvis Presley’s Graceland Mansion (which is on my list of 25 places to visit in the US), and the National Civil Rights Museum.
Things to do in and around Memphis
Apart from these two places, the Chucalissa Indian Village Site is my third favorite place to visit in Memphis because it used to be a former Native American mound. Today, this site features an interesting museum with many artifacts unearthed at the site. (see more places to visit in Memphis TN)
Dollywood
Dollywood Theme Park is also on my list of interesting places to visit in Tennessee mainly because I am a big Dolly Parton fan, and the theme park features a replica of the house she grew up in as well as her tour caravan and outfits worn by Dolly herself.
Even, if you’re not a fan of Dolly, you'll love this place because of the atmosphere and fun thrill rides.
By the way, Dollywood is just 15 minutes drive from attractions in Gatlinburg TN and around 45 minutes drive from Knoxville.
Nashville
Nasville is quite a Mecca for music aficionados, which is why it's famously known as “Music City”. Two of the biggest attractions in the music scene are the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Nasville has many cultural attractions like the state Capitol and the Parthenon which is a live-size replica of the original Greek Parthenon in Greece.
You can also enjoy walking tours and trolley tours of Nashville’s downtown main points of interests like the Ryman Auditorium, the State Capitol and Music Row.
Knoxville
I added Knoxville to my list of interesting places to visit in Tennessee because of its close proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains and interesting attractions.
Firstly, Knoxville is home to the University of Tennessee where you can marvel at a beautiful riverfront.
You can also visit the restored James White Fort which was the founder of Knoxville. You can tour the fort and check out 18th century items like an open-pit cooker.
If you a sports aficionado, don't forget visiting the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame as the Main Hall has a cool practice course where you can test your basketball skills.
Apart from this, the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame is a popular focal point because of the massive 30 feet tall basketball.
Chattanooga
The state of Tennessee is renowned for being an outdoor’s paradise and what better place to enjoy outdoor activities like rock climbing and hiking than Chattanooga, right?
Weekend Getaways near Chattanooga
Apart from these cool attractions, I love Chattanooga because it offers the opportunity for day trips to Huntsville in Alabama and Atlanta in Georgia (Chattanooga is literary a few miles from either border!)
Lookout Mountain & Signal Point
Tennessee is one of best places to see fall foliage in the US, with the Great Smoky Mountains Park probably being one of the most popular spots to see the color change.
However, the city of Chattanooga has places like Lookout Mountain’s Point Park and Signal Point which offer great leaf-peeping opportunities. You can also enjoy a boat tour with the Tennessee Aquarium and experience the fall foliage through the majestic Tennessee River Gorge.
Tip. If you’re planning to see the fall color change in Tennessee, come here between the last week of October and the first week of November to catch the leaves at their peak!

Interesting Places to Visit in Utah
If you had to describe Utah in a single word, it would be “glorious”. The Southern part of Utah, in particular, is filled with lovely scenic byways and many national parks.
If you are an adventurous explorer and back-country enthusiast, Utah is truly a paradise with outstanding scenery and gorgeous rock formations. Here are some of the interesting places to visit in Utah that I enjoyed the most:
Anasazi Indian Village
The Anasazi Indian Village State Park is located in the town of Boulder on the scenic highway State Route 12.
This place is one of the most interesting places to visit in Utah because is one of the oldest Native American sites. The park also has a lovely museum where you can see ancient artifacts.
Escalante
As you drive through Escalante, the scenic views are astonishing and you can see for miles and miles.
The town of Escalante is also located on the scenic highway State Route 12, and the area is one of the best places to explore Utah’s remarkable and rugged terrain.
Because of the terrific landscape, Escalante is one of the best hiking spots in Utah and you can enjoy anything from day hikes to a backpacking adventure through the canyons.
Hill Aerospace Museum
The Hill Aerospace Museum is located in Riverdale Utah and it is one of the most interesting places to visit in Utah because the museum is located by the Hill Air Force base.
The whole family can actually enjoy a fun day out here, as you’re allowed to walk around, view and touch military aircrafts, missiles and bombs.
Calf Creek Falls
Calf Creek Falls is another amazing natural wonder in the state and one of the most interesting places to visit in Utah here you can explore amazing scenery.
Calf Creek Falls are located within Calf Creek Recreation Area, and features two sections: the Lower Falls and the Upper Falls.
The Lower Falls is by far the easiest to get to from Calf Creek campground and takes around 2.5 miles to get to. On the way to the Lower Falls area, you’ll pass breathtaking cliffs, beaver ponds and lovely ancient rock art.
Capitol Reef National Park
Capitol Reef National Park is for me one of the best places in the state where you can appreciate Utah’s stunning rock formations.
Capitol Reef National Park is one of the most interesting places to visit in Utah because the park has very unique sandstone formations, cliffs and coloured canyons. The canyons have lovely and vibrant reddish colors, and you can spend hours at the park hiking though the wonderful trails.
Red Canyon Trail Rides
Utah is certainly one of the most popular vacation spots in the Western US. If you’re traveling with the family, one of the top places to vacation with kids in Utah is at the Red Canyon Trail Rides.
Red Canyon is a popular resort where you can experience the life of a real cowboy, enjoying fun scenic horseback rides though the majestic Bryce Canyon National Park and Grand Staircase National Monument.
Dinosaur National Monument
Dinosaur National Monument is on my list of top 10 natural wonders in USA, and you’ll understand why once you get to the area.
Dinosaur National Monument spans a wide area, and within its boundaries you’ll see some remarkable examples of ancient rock art, fossils, bones exhibits and the dinosaur quarry where you can see various layers of dinosaur bones.
Zion National Park
Zion National Park is without a doubt one of the most popular national parks in Utah, located northeast from the city of St. George UT, and not far from the town of Springdale Utah.
Zion Park is one of the most interesting places to visit in Utah for sure. If you’re visiting the park for the first time, one of the best ways to explore the park is by using the Zion Park shuttle service, which takes to all the important attractions and landmarks within the park.
Final Note
Most interesting places to visit in Utah are actually located within a national park, and many charge an entry fee of around $15. It is a good idea purchasing a national park annual pass, which costs around $50, but you’ll save quite a bit as the National Park pass grants access for a car and all its passengers.

Massachusetts is truly one of the gems on the East Coast of USA and it’s one of the most popular summer vacation spots in New England.
Despite Massachusetts size, there are literary hundreds of wonderful places to visit in Massachusetts to list them all, but I’d list down the places I enjoy and that I think you'll enjoy the most:
Boston
Boston is one of my favorite places to visit in Massachusetts because of its rich history. The minute you arrive in Boston, you can tell how historic the city is by looking at the buildings.
The University of Harvard is one of the best places to notice Boston historic feel. You can wander around the campus, which is massive and explore various sites such as Massachusetts Hall, John Harvard Statue and Harry Widner Memorial Library.

The town of Plymouth is a very charming place with plenty of shops, restaurants and museums, and you could definitely plan a fun day out here.
Plimoth Plantation is one of my favorite places to visit in Massachusetts, and this place is a true living museum and a fun place to take the whole family out.
Plimoth Plantation is an educational but fun place where you can learn how life would’ve been like for the early settlers. The plantation also has many exhibits and activities to watch and participate in.

Northampton should definitely be on your list of places to visit in Massachusetts, as it is one of the few places to taste "the real America". The town has a relaxed, friendly and calmed vibe that reminds you very much of Vermont.
The locals are friendly and you’ll feel right at home here. Northampton has lovely cafes, restaurants, beautiful scenery and the main shopping mall is a great place to enjoy a fun and hassle-free shopping time.
Northampton is also a great place for leaf-peepers and it's one of the best destinations in November. However, if you come here in September you’ll get to see the leaf color change and appreciate why Massachusetts is one of the best places to see fall foliage.
Cape Cod
Cape Cod is renowned for being home to some of the best family beaches on east coast. Cape Cod is one of the top paces to vacation with kids, and during the summer months this places is filled with families looking to enjoy a well deserved summer vacation.
If you’re looking for fun things to do with the family in Cape Cod, you’d love exploring the beautiful Cape Cod National Seashore.

Cape Cod is also one of my favorite places to visit in Massachusetts because of the lovely islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
For instance, in Nantucket you can explore the wonderful whaling museum and learn more about the whaling trade, from harpoons to other tools used in the trade.
