Located in Cajun Country, Lafayette is one of the best places to learn all about Cajun and Creole life at the Acadian Village where you can see restored period structures such as slave quarters, as well as period artifacts such as a wooden loom.

Beautiful Places to visit in New England |
However, you’d be surprised to learn that even though Rhode Island may look small, it's actually one of the top summer vacation spots in New England as it boasts places such as Block Island, which draws thousands of travelers every summer.
Apart from water activities and outdoor activities such as hiking and wildlife spotting in one of Rhode Island’s many green areas, there are hundreds of interesting places that you can visit during your vacation. Here it is a list of some of my interesting places to visit in Rhode Island:
North Kingstown
First off on my list of interesting places to visit in Rhode Island it’s the town of North Kingstown because of the amount of historic places the town boasts such as the Old Narragansett Church which is the oldest church built in New England.
Apart from the architecture, if you are interested in military planes, North Kingstown boast an old air base turned museum which displays military aircrafts.
While in the area, you may also want to visit the Seabee Museum and can see the famed Quonset hut and learn about the history of the Seebees.
Block Island
As I mentioned earlier, Block Island is the biggest summer destination in the state hands down. Even, if you don't stay in Block Island, the island is a great destination for a day trip as it is just a short ferry ride from Galilee.
Block Island is also on my list of interesting places to visit in Rhode Island because of the stunning natural attractions such as the Mohegan Bluffs, nature trails, and beaches overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Block Island is really an amazing place that you wouldn’t want to miss exploring if you’re in Rhode Island because you can enjoy anything from water sport such as boating tours, surfing and parasailing to wildlife spotting.
Also, don’t forget checking out Southeast Lighthouse to get some awesome views of the ocean and the actual bluffs.
Providence
Downtown Providence is one of the best places to enjoy a walking tour of Rhode Island and marvel at beautiful period architecture.
I added Providence RI to my list of interesting places to visit in Rhode Island, not only because the entire downtown area of Providence is on the National Register of Historic Places, but also because of attractions such as the Roger Williams Botanical Center and "Waterfire".
Waterfire is truly an event like no other, and it is more surreal when you’re riding along Providence River on an original Venetian gondola.
Bristol
Bristol is another destination that you definitely want to add to your Rhode Island itinerary, especially if you’re based in Providence RI, as Bristol RI is only half a hour drive south of the capital.
Bristol is also on my list of interesting places to visit in Rhode Island because of the amazing collection of Herreshoff boats collection and beautiful 18th century mansions and houses.
If you’re really interested in learning more about Bristol period houses, I suggest booking a tour with the Bristol RI Historical & Preservation Society to make the most out of your visit in Bristol RI.
Newport
Newport is one of best places in Rhode Island to explore an 18th century seaport. The town boasts a wealth of history and unique Gilded Age mansions such as Marble House.
Apart from the architecture and history, Newport is also on my list of interesting places to visit because of the stunning Fort Adams and Cliff Walk.
Cliff Walk is a 4-mile paved trail that runs along the shoreline providing amazing ocean views and wildlife spotting, while Fort Adams is just breathtaking.
If you’ve been to other forts in the states such as Fort Gaines in Alabama, Fort Adams is the biggest confederate fort in the states and you’ll be blown away by its size and amazing views of the bay and Narragansett.
Tiverton
Tiverton is on my list of interesting places to visit in Rhode Island because of Emilie Ruecker Wildlife Refuge which is one of the best places to see fall foliage in the state, especially if you want to enjoy the fall foliage without the crowds.
The refuge boasts many hiking trails that will give you the opportunity, not only to experience the fall colors, but also the wildlife.

Interesting places to visit in New Hampshire
New Hampshire is truly one of the hidden gems in New England, sharing many similarities with other New England states like stunning natural scenery, slower pace of life, wealth of cultural attractions and beautiful beaches such as Hampton Beach New Hampshire.
Having said this, New Hampshire does boast attractions of its own such as being home to the highest peak in New England and one of the most beautiful memorial site - Cathedral of the Pines historic Site.
This site actually includes two memorials - the “Altar of the Nation” memorial and the Women’s memorial Belltower in the town of Rindge.
As promised, I am sharing some of my favorite places to visit in New Hampshire that you may want to add to your New Hampshire itinerary.
Canterbury
If you’ve always wanted to visit one of the Shaker Villages in New England, New Hampshire is one of the best places to do this.
I added Canterbury to the list of interesting places to visit in New Hampshire because of the Canterbury Shaker Village, which is one of the best preserved and authentic Shaker Villages you’ll ever come across.
The Canterbury Shaker Village really gives an interesting insight into life in the early 19th century as buildings haven't got modern amenities. The best thing about the village is that you can enjoy fun tours and watch traditional crafts events to see how things were made back then.
White Mountains National Forest
New Hampshire boasts pristine natural scenery and there is no better place to appreciate this than at the White Mountains National Forest (worthy of a place on the list of top 10 natural wonders in USA).
The White Mountains National Forest isn’t only one of the best places to see fall foliage in New England, but also a great place visit all year around because of the opportunities for recreational activities like hiking, climbing, wildlife spotting and scenic drives along route 302.
White Mountains National Forest is also on my list of interesting places to visit in New Hampshire because of the stunning views you can get from the summit of Mount Avalon.
Lake Winnipesaukee
I think that Lake Winnipesaukee has to be one of the most interesting places to visit in New Hampshire, and one of the top places to vacation with kids on the east coast..
Apart from being able to enjoy water activities like swimming, kayaking and cruising tours, you can enjoy plenty of other fun activities like horseback riding, go karting, bowling and mini-golf.
Portsmouth
The town of Portsmouth is another of the interesting places to visit in New Hampshire because of Portsmouth’s maritime importance and historic buildings.
The town is one of the oldest seaports in the states with a variety of 17th and 18th century structures such as Strawbery Banke Museum.
While in Portsmouth, you may also want to visit the beautiful flower garden at Prescott Park, and enjoy the lovely views of Piscataqua River and the pier.
Mount Washington
I added Mount Washington to the list of interesting palces to visit in New Hampshire, not only because Mt. Washington is the highest peak in New England, but also because Mount Washington Cog Railway is the world's first mountain-climbing cog railway.
If you’ve ever wanted to get onboard a steam train (like me) the Cog Railway is also steam-powered, and it’s truly an amazing experience!
Concord
The capital of New Hampshire is another interesting place if you’re a history buff as it is here where you’ll find the New Hampshire State Capitol Building and many important statues.
However, while in Concord you can also enjoy fun activities like visiting the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center which has to be one of the most interesting places to visit in New Hampshire, hands-down!
The Discovery Center has a myriad of interesting attractions for everyone and interactive exhibits for a fun day out. There are hands-on activities for absolutely all ages like building rockets and enjoying the fun space travel simulator.

Interesting places to visit in Arkansas
Wondering what interesting places to visit in Arkansas?
Arkansas is certainly one of the most popular southwest US vacation spots because of the beautiful Ozarks and Ouachita national forests, which offer great opportunities for outdoor activities like climbing, hiking and camping.
Having said this, if you’re wondering about cultural attractions in Arkansas, the state does boast many historical sites, towns and districts that you can tour such as Central Avenue in Hot Springs AR and Old Washington Historic State Park in Washington AR.
Little Rock
Little Rock is on my list of interesting places to visit in Arkansas because of the lovely Quapaw Quarter historic district and other cultural attractions.
On this district, you’ll find many Civil War buildings like the former US Arsenal Building and Pike-Fletcher-Terry antebellum House.
Other interesting places you don’t want to miss while in Little Rock AR are the Old State House, Arkansas Museum of Discovery and the War Memorial Park.
Arkansas Rock Carvings
Arkansas Native American rock art sites are high on my list of interesting places to visit in Arkansas because many of these carvings and paintings are done on exposed boulders, allowing to get a good glimpse of them.
There are over 20 Rock Art Sites in Arkansas, with Rockhouse Cave in Jean Petit State Park and Carrion Crow Mountain near Dover being two of the best places to see rock art in Arkansas.
Murfreesboro
I added the little town of Murfreesboro to my list of interesting places to visit in Arkansas because of Crater of Diamonds State Park. Crater of Diamonds State Park is one of the few places I know of in the states where you can actually search for diamonds.

If you’re looking for a fun outing with the family, searching for diamonds and other precious metals at Crater of Diamonds State Park is a really cool thing to do, especially if you do find a diamond!
Fort Smith
Fort Smith is located right on the Oklahoma-Arkansas border and it is definitely one of the most interesting places to visit in Arkansas because of the amount of historic sites.
You can visit Fort Smith National Historic Site and tour the grounds and see 19th century supply wagons, cannons, hanging gallows and a supply warehouse.
If you’re a history buff, you’ll also enjoy the visit to the site’s museum which has many interesting exhibits that will give an idea of life back then..
Hot Springs National Park
A trip to Arkansas would not be complete without touring the famed downtown Bathhouse Row area.
The downtown Bathhouse Row area is another of the interesting places to visit in Arkansas because the actual downtown area is constructed around hot springs.
Another cool thing about the famed hot springs is that you’re allowed to collect spring water to take home, which I think makes a great souvenir present for someone back home!.
Ouachita National Forest
The Ozark National Forest and the Ouachita National Forest are, without a doubt, two of the most interesting places to visit in Arkansas, and worthy of a place on the list of top 10 natural wonders in the USA.
Ouachita and the Ozarks are certainly two of the best places to see fall foliage in Arkansas as they truly become alive with reds and oranges during the autumn season.
There is no better way to take in the beautiful fall colors than on a leaf-peeping tour or on a scenic drive.
If you take the Arkansas Scenic Byway 7 from Hot Springs, all the way to Harrison (or vice versa) you get to cross both Ouachita and Ozarks National Forest, and the scenic drive can be done in under 3 hours.
By the way, the fall color peak in Ouachita National Forest is between the last week of October and first week of November.

Interesting places to visit in Alabama
Must see Attractions in Alabama |
Alabama offers so many things to do and see that you’re simply spoiled for choice. You can enjoy outdoor activities at one of the many state parks, enjoy a beach vacation in the Gulf Coast or explore Alabama’s historic towns and cities.
To give you an idea of what to places to visit in the state, here it is a list of interesting places to visit in Alabama worth adding to your itinerary.
Huntsville
The town of Huntsville is truly blesses with lovely surroundings, and being so close to Tennessee; it really is a great place to base your vacation in Alabama.
Hunstville is on my list of interesting places to visit in Alabama because of the museums, historical buildings and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
If you’re interested in science and a space rockets, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is one of the coolest things to do in Huntsville with the family. The Space Center boasts really cool exhibits on space rocket technology as well as interactive movies.
While in Huntsville, a few other places you do want to explore are the Huntsville Depot Museum, the Railroad Museum and the lovely Burritt Mansion which is now walk in museum.
Birmingham
Birmingham is located in the heart of Alabama, and a trip to the state wouldn’t be complete without exploring this vibrant and historic city.
Downtown Birmingham is certainly one of the most interesting places to visit in Alabama because it was on this district where the American Civil Rights Movement took place.
If you’re a history buff, you’ll find the historic tours of the downtown area interesting and quite educational.
The city also boasts plenty of other cultural attractions like antebellum homes, a science center and the Jazz Hall of Fame.
If you're traveling to Birmingham on a day trip, I would suggest heading first to Vulcan Park because it serves as the city's Visitor Center.
By the way, Vulcan Park is home to “Vulcan” which is the largest cast iron statue in the world and second largest statue in the states after “Lady Liberty” in New York.
Alabama Caverns
If you’re looking for fun outdoor attractions, the state’s caverns are some of the most interesting places to visit in Alabama because they offer a nice little break from the city crowds.
Three great caverns that you can check out, not far from each other, are Russell Cave National Monument (right on the Alabama-Tennessee border), Sequoyah Caverns and Cathedral Caverns, which are all located northeast of Alabama.
Having said this, Sequoyah Caverns and Cathedral Caverns are two of my favorites because the caverns are quite impressive and feature underground waterfalls and odd looking fossils.
Apart from this, the caverns are located within a recreational area with campgrounds, which is a plus if you want to spend a few days in the area.
Talladega National Forest
Talladega National Forest is a popular place to explore on a backpacking trip because of the amazing Cheaha Mountains.
During the autumn the forest is one of the best places to see fall foliage in Alabama, and enjoying a leaf-peeping tour.
The Talladega Forest has many scenic byways that you can drive along taking in the beautiful fall colors.
Gulf Coast
Mobile is Alabama’s getaway to the Gulf Coast and a great place to base your vacation, as it's not too far from vacation spots like Gulf Shores, Dauphin Island and Orange Beach.
Apart from the beautiful beaches and its close proximity to Florida, I added the Gulf Coast to my list of interesting places to visit in Alabama because of the many confederate forts built here to protect Mobile Bay.
The main three ports are:
-Fort Conde in Mobile AL
-Fort Morgan in Gulf Shores AL
-Fort Gaines in Dauphin Island AL
My favourite one, though, it is the one located in Dauphin Island because it was the main confederate fort guarding Mobile Bay.
You can get lovely views from the fort top floors, and explore the fort’s many bastions and areas like the bakery room, a blacksmith shop, officer’s quarters and cannons
Selma & Montgomery
Selma and Montgomery are two other interesting places to visit in Alabama that I would recommend visiting, apart from Birmingham, because of their historic significance in Alabama’s history.
Selma marked the beginning of three of the famous Civil Rights marches to the city of Montgomery.
The town of Selma, itself, has many interesting attractions like the Slavery & Civil War Museum and the Old Depot Museum that you can check out.
